Working Model

eBooking is based on Microsoft .NET technology. The COVER -application runs on the workstations and communicates with the server and database via HTTP. When a workstation is reserved, the COVER-program grants access to only the user who has the reservation.

COVER

The central element in eBooking is the COVER application running on the workstations. Its main functions are:

  • Being constantly aware of whether the workstation is reserved. If not reserved, shows a FREE status.
  • Synchronising the clock of the workstations with the server clock.
  • Notifying the user 5 min and 1 min before the reservation ends.
  • Closing all programs after the reserved time has ended.
  • Preventing simultaneous usage of the same user on more than one workstation.

Easy to Set Up!

The .NET technology and Web Services used in eBooking makes it quick and simple to deploy, as the application resides on a server hosted by DP-Group. This approach makes it efficient for libraries that don't have a dedicated server and/or the resources to maintain one.
